Haynes Captures 74th KPGA Professional Championship

LOUISVILLE, KY(August 19, 2025) – The final round of the 74th Kentucky PGA Professional Championship at Big Spring Country Club has concluded.  The final day brought a lot of energy and excitement as players battled for 4 Qualifying Spots and 3 Alternate Positions.

Zach Haynes, PGA of The Club at Olde Stone, led the charge with a final-round 69, highlighted by birdies on holes 4, 8, 10, 14, and 16. 2024 champion, Daniel Iceman, PGA, was hot on his heels as he had a clean scorecard through 15 holes on the final day to get to 6-under par and held a 2-shot lead with 3 holes to play.  Hole 16 would be a two-shot swing for Haynes and Iceman as they made birdie and bogey, respectively, and put them in a tie at 5-under par with two holes to play.  Haynes would take a one-stroke lead after making par on 17, while Iceman made bogey.  Both players would par the 18th, and Haynes would seal his victory by one shot with a two day total of 139 (-5)!

Finishing in third place was 2020 champion, Grover Justice, PGA, with a closing round of 71 to post 3-under par for the tournament.

After a disappointing opening round, Alastair Tidcombe, PGA, climbed the leaderboard on the final day.  He got his round jump started on hole 6 with a birdie and then followed that up with an eagle on 7 to make the turn at 2-under on the day (+1 overall).  He continued his charge on the back nine with birdies on holes 10 and 12.  He came to the 18th needing a birdie to force a playoff for the final qualifying spot, and he delivered.  Tidcombe posted a final round of 67 (-5), which was the lowest round of the tournament.  Mitchell Moore, PGA, would join Tidcombe in the playoff, which took place on the 16th hole.  Tidcombe won on the first playoff hole to punch his ticket to the 58th PGA Professional Championship while Moore claimed the first alternate position.

Aaron Eldridge, PGA and two-time champion, and Andrew Stephens, PGA, had a one-hole playoff to determine the second and third alternate positions.  Eldridge went on to win the playoff to take the second alternate position, while Stephens took the third alternate position.

Haynes, Iceman, Justice, and Tidcombe will compete on the national stage at the 58th PGA Professional Championship to be held April 26-29, 2026, at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon.
