Tony Wise Cruises to his Second Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Men's Senior Amateur Title

BOWLING GREEN, KY (September 23, 2025) – The 39th Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Men’s Senior Amateur Championship crowned its overall champion on Tuesday at Indian Hills Country Club, with Tony Wise of Frankfort Country Club capturing his second career title. Additional division honors went to David Combs in the Masters Division and Max Marley in the Legends Division.

In the Senior Division, Wise rose to the challenge of the event’s new format, firing rounds of 69–67–66 for an impressive 11 under-par (202). The Senior Division faced a greater test than the Masters and Legends this year, playing a 54-hole championship with 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, compared to 36 holes for the other divisions. Wise’s steady play and closing 66 not only secured his second Senior Amateur title (also winning in 2021) but also made him the first champion crowned under the updated structure. Runner-up Davis Boland of Midland Trail Golf Club finished at 1 under-par (212).

Wise credited both focus and friendship as driving forces in the final round. With a six-shot lead, it’s easy to get complacent, and I told myself I was not going to do that,” he said. “Davis was only six behind, and he and I are good buddies. We play a team event together, so I know he’s kind of a bulldog. I didn’t want him making a run at me.” That determination showed early. When I birdied 6 and 7, I was going into my match play mode. I tend to make good swings and be aggressive as I need to be, and put as many pars up there as I possibly can. I played very well. The course suits my eye.” For Wise, the victory carried a little extra satisfaction. I had a bit of a bone to pick with this course,” he admitted. “Three years ago, I didn’t make the cut for the State Am — the first cut I had missed in seven or eight years. I’ll take the trade-off, though.

In the Masters Division (ages 60+), David Combs of EClub Kentucky Central took top honors with rounds of 70–75 for a 3 over-par 145 finish.

The Legends Division (ages 70+) was decided based on an exciting playoff, with Max Marley of the University of Louisville Golf Club prevailing in a playoff after carding rounds of 77–74 for a 9 over-par 151.
