Round two leader, Warren Thomis

LEXINGTON, KY (June 24, 2025) – Round Two of the 111th Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur Championship is officially in the books, as players battled not only Lexington Country Club’s demanding layout, but also sweltering summer heat with temperatures soaring into the 90s.

Warren Thomis surged into the solo lead with a second-round 69, moving him to 6-under-par for the tournament. Thomis carded four birdies on the day and delivered a steady, nearly flawless performance on the back nine.

“The challenge today was definitely the pin locations,” said Thomis. “I thought they were in some tough spots. You couldn’t get as aggressive today as you could yesterday.”

Luke Fuller now sits alone in second place at 5-under-par (67-70–137). Fuller put together a bogey-free front nine, highlighted by two birdies, and added another on the back. The strong round nearly mirrored his performance on day one, showcasing steady play and confident ball striking throughout.

Joshua Rhodes remains within striking distance in third place at 4-under-par (67-71–138). Rhodes, who started on hole #10, navigated a bogey-free first nine, and although closing with two bogeys in his last 6 holes, he still placed himself firmly in contention heading into the final round.

“Hole #4 really fooled me today,” Rhodes said. “It was playing 144 and I tried to hit a 135 shot—ended up over the green. The last six holes were a bit of a grind. The course is playing tougher today. Pins are tougher. There are a few out there where you're just like, ‘Oh wow.’”

With championship conditions firming up and the leaderboard tightening, all signs point to a thrilling final round in the quest for one of Kentucky’s most coveted amateur titles.

The field has now been cut to the top 70 players, with the cut line falling at 9-over-par. Those remaining will return to Lexington Country Club for one final round on Wednesday, all chasing a place in Kentucky golf history.
