Susan Stewart Sets the Pace after Day 1 of the Women's Kentucky Senior Amateur

BRONSON, KY (September 12, 2023) – Today marked day one of the Clark's Pump-N-Shop Women's Kentucky Senior Amateur, with defending champion Susan Stewart leading the field after the first round. The tournament, held at Woodson Bend Resort in Bronson this year, has been won by Stewart the last two years.

Stewart, in the Sophomore division, leads the tournament by three with a first-round 75. She had a very consistent round today, with just three bogeys on her card compared to 15 pars. Tied for second and not far behind sit three-time champion Jessica Cornelius, whose third win came at Woodson Bend, 2020 champion Cynthia Powell, and three-time champion Cindy Summers. They all posted rounds of 78, which included an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole for Summers.

Leading both the overall gross and Sophomore gross division heading into round two is Stewart. Robin Brockman currently holds the lead in the Freshman gross division with a first-round 84. Cornelius and Powell share the lead in the Junior gross division. Topping the leaderboard for the Senior and Super-Senior gross divisions are Linda Neikirk (83) and Mary Woodrum (89), respectively.   

Round 2 begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow with another shotgun start.
