LOUISVILLE, KY (September 11, 2025) – After six tournaments spanning the summer, the KGA Amateur Series reached its conclusion with the season-ending Amateur Series Championship at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club. Each event throughout the year gave players the chance to earn points toward qualifying for the championship, and the top performers of the season gathered in Louisville to battle it out one last time.

The Amateur Series features four age divisions — Open (any age), Senior (50–59), Masters (60–69), and Legends (70+) — with both gross and net competitions in each. Gross scores represent a player’s raw total strokes, while net scores adjust for handicap to level the playing field. Across the season, players earned points within their divisions, and those with the highest totals were honored as Players of the Year.

Open Division (Gross): Scott Johnson – Elizabethtown Country Club (75)

Open Division (Net): Andrew Buse – EClub Kentucky Central (78)

Senior Division (Gross): David Horning – EClub Kentucky Central (84)

Senior Division (Net): Jeff Egger – EClub Kentucky North (74)

Masters Division (Gross): Scott Pottinger – Hurstbourne Country Club (73)

Masters Division (Net): Robert Hobdy – EClub Kentucky North (77)

Legends Division (Gross): Stacy Russell – EClub Kentucky East (77)

Legends Division (Net): Elmo Greer - Valhalla Golf Club

It was a particularly special finish for Scott Johnson of Elizabethtown Country Club, who not only captured Open Division (Gross) Player of the Year honors, but also triumphed at Persimmon Ridge with a championship-winning 75 for the day. With the victory, Johnson claimed the overall championship and a coveted exemption into the 2026 Kentucky State Amateur Championship.
