LOUISVILLE, KY – The 97th Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Women’s State Amateur Championship wrapped up Wednesday at Nevel Meade Golf Course, showcasing the best of Kentucky’s women’s golf in a highly competitive and memorable week.
Champion – Cathryn Brown (Eddyville, KY), a rising junior at the University of Kentucky, delivered a remarkable performance from start to finish to claim the 2025 Kentucky Women’s State Amateur title. She opened the week with a stellar 2-under-par 70 in Monday’s stroke-play qualifier, earning medalist honors and the top seed in the Championship Bracket. Brown then carried that momentum into match play, defeating Isabella Wiley (Bagdad, KY) 3&1 in Tuesday’s quarterfinals before securing a semifinal win over Savannah Howell on Wednesday morning.
The championship match brought extra emotion as Brown faced her college roommate and best friend, CA Carter. In a tightly contested final, the two traded pars and birdies, with Brown ultimately sealing a 1-up victory on the 18th green. The win adds a prestigious title to Brown’s growing resume and highlights the strength of Kentucky’s rising collegiate stars.
