Kentucky's Claycomb Earns Spot in U.S. Amateur

Bowling Green, KY - Fifteen year Cannon Claycomb earned one of the three spots at the Sectional Qualifying for the U.S. Amateur today.  Claycomb of Bowling Green shot a 5-under par 139 at Bowling Green Country Club with rounds of 69 and 70.  Three other players, Cullan Brown (Eddyville), CJ Jones (Frankfort), Chase Landrum (Glasgow), tied with Claycomb at 139, but lost in a play-off.  Brown earned the first alternate position and CJ Jones the second alternate. Medalists were Bryce Lewis (Henderson) and Hunter Richardson (Clarksville) with a 7-under par 137.  Lewis shot rounds of 66-71and Richardson shot 67-70. The U.S. Amateur will be played at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA August 14-20.  In addition to Riviera, Bel-Air Country Club will host stroke play qualifying.
