Watts/Kosztowny/Straub/Kramer Win on Record-Setting Fundraising Day from Valhalla

Watts/Kosztowny/Straub/Kramer win at Valhalla in record-setting fundraising day for Youth on Course Kentucky.

LOUISVILLE, KY (August 1, 2022) - For the fourth straight year, a record amount of funds were raised in the annual ISCO Industries Youth on Course Kentucky Pro-Am from Valhalla Golf Club. On this occasion, the previous record was shattered with approximately $75,000 raised to benefit Youth on Course Kentucky; the popular growth-of-the-game initiative that allows children to play golf for $5 at most participating courses.

To accomplish that, more than 170 people participated in Monday’s tournament where teams of four were composed of one professional and three amateurs. The format took the best gross score and best net score from each team on every hole, with 80% of amateurs’ handicaps being accounted for. Three teams tied for first place with scores of 128 (-16), but the team of Logan Watts, PGA, Mike Kosztowny, Bill Straub, and Nick Kramer won a scorecard playoff to emerge as the victorious team.

The teams of John Clare/Will Elpers/Mike Fenton/Mike Curran and J.B. Williams/Jamie Sneed/Jon Dotterer/Brady Stewart finished as the joint runners-up. The winning team led by Watts, the Co-Head Golf Professional from Louisville Country Club, won by virtue of an outstanding inward half of 62 (-10) which allowed them to get the final edge over their counterparts.

The low pro competition was won by Ben Silverman who carded a round of 66 (-6) to prevail by a stroke. A front nine of 32 (-4) was particularly useful in Silverman getting to that point, but he made eight birdies over the course of the day to help him earn a first-place check worth $5,000.

Most importantly though, thanks to the above players and everyone else who played on Monday, children in Kentucky will continue to be able to play golf at an affordable price for many more years to come as a result of today’s fundraising efforts. Additionally, the Youth on Course Kentucky Caddie Program will receive funding through today’s event as well, allowing teenagers to loop at select facilities for immediate pay and college scholarships in the future.
