Previewing the Assistant, Senior and Women Section Championships

LOUISVILLE, KY (August 9, 2020) – The time has come for the Members and Assistants of the Kentucky PGA Section to prove whose playing ability is at the top of the mountain in 2020. Three of the four Kentucky PGA Section Championships will take place in the hours to come as the Assistants, Seniors and Women of the Kentucky Section take part in their Championships.

Hunting Creek Country Club in Prospect will host two of the competitions on Monday. The National Car Rental Kentucky Assistant PGA Professional Championship will feature twenty-six Assistants and Associates playing two rounds of stroke play. The top two finishers in the tournament will advance to PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida for the 44th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship which is scheduled to take place November 12-15, 2020. Jesse Massie, Associate Professional at Woodhaven Country Club will attempt to defend his title after winning by two strokes over Michael Vanderveer, PGA Assistant Professional at Hurstbourne Country Club in 2019 at Louisville Country Club.

The Kentucky Women’s PGA Professional Championship will also take place at Hunting Creek on Monday with three of the Section’s ladies competing in what will be an eighteen-hole competition. Kim Shafer, PGA Jr. League Administrator, Sara Stephens, PGA General Manager of Stephens Golf Center and Katie White, Associate Professional at Hurstbourne Country Club will tee off at 10:00 a.m. EDT in search of the title.

On the southern edge of Kentucky, Dale Hollow State Resort Park will host thirteen competitors in the Kentucky Senior PGA Professional Championship. This tournament will span two days, with one round of stroke play occurring on both Monday and Tuesday. When the thirty-six holes are complete, the top two players will advance to the 32nd Senior PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club, scheduled for October 15-18, 2020. Bruce Oldendick, PGA Head Professional at Pendleton Hills Golf Course will go for the three-peat, having won at Dale Hollow last year and at Frankfort Country Club in 2018.
