Another Warm One at Andover

It was a warm day for some hot golf for the Kentucky PGA National Car Rental Pro-Am Series at Andover Golf & Country Club in Lexington on June 13.  23 teams teed it up in hopes of capturing one of four prizes: two best gross balls of the four-person team, two best net balls of the four-person team, Low Professional and Low Senior Professional.  There was also a little something for everyone with KPGA Business Partner Horn Legend supplying golf shirts to the professionals, KPGA Business Partner Cleveland | Srixon Golf providing two sleeves of golf balls to each amateur and the signature National Car Rental Pro-Am Series poker chip being passed out to all players. KPGA Business Partner Bionic Gloves also brought some fun to the day with a game on the second the hole - the closest amateur to the hole in each group won a Bionic Glove.  Special thanks to National Car Rental and our partners for a fantastic and fun day!

There was some great golf played at Andover.  The Gay Brewer, Jr. Golf Course team lead by PGA Professional Aaron McDowell, Steve Humphrey, Andy Withrow and Jeff Richie fired a red-hot round of 116 (28-under-par) to take home Top Net Honors.  They were seven shots clear of the Persimmon Ridge Golf Club Team lead by PGA Professional, Colby Wollitz, Dr. Stephen Ewing, Norman Spalding and David York.  Two teams found themselves atop the leaderboard for Top Gross Honors.  Team Seneca Golf Course lead by PGA Professional Andrew Lardner, Jason Witten, David Jasper and Kyle Shirley and Team High Performance Golf Academy lead by PGA Professional Grover Justice, Ron Layman, Ryan Loghry and Tyler Fields combined their two best gross scores in the group for a 133 (11-under-par).  Team Seneca gained the slight advantage after a scorecard playoff.  Head PGA Professional at Wildwood Country Club, Blake Watts, took home the Low Professional title after a stellar round of 67 (five-under-par) and Eastern Kentucky University PGA Men's Golf Coach, Pat Stephens took home Low Senior Professional accolades with a round of three-under-par 69.  Steven Conley of Cherry Blossom finished second among Professionals with a round of two-under-par 70 and PGA Life Member Bruce Oldendick carded an even par round to finish second among the Senior Group. Thanks to Andover Golf and Country Club for a great day and thanks to everyone who participated! For complete results ... click here > >
