Dorothy Waters Junior Girls Golf Award

2025 Dorothy Waters Scholarship Winners

Golf House Kentucky, in partnership with the Women’s Advisory Committee of the Kentucky Golf Association, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Dorothy Waters Scholarship.

Established in honor of Dorothy Waters—whose six decades of service included founding the Louisville District Women’s Golf Association and serving 30 years as secretary of the Women’s Kentucky State Golf Association—the scholarship supports junior female golfers under 18 with a Handicap Index of 25 or lower. Awards from the Dorothy Waters Scholarship Fund help cover tournament-related expenses, encouraging young women to pursue competitive golf and make the tournament game a lifelong passion.

Heidi Mitchell

This year’s scholarship recipient, Heidi Mitchell, has shown impressive commitment to the game and a strong desire to grow through competition. With the support of the Dorothy Waters Scholarship, she is eager to make the most of a promising season ahead. “I am honored to receive this grant,” said Heidi. “I am excited to play in more tournaments this summer!” Her enthusiasm exemplifies the spirit of the award and the legacy it carries forward.

Dorothy Waters was quite active in the Women’s Fall Cities Golf Association for more than 60 years and founded the Louisville District Women’s Golf Association in 1952. She was secretary of the Women’s Kentucky State Golf Association for over 30 years and was instrumental in starting the Women's Kentucky Senior Amateur in 1980. For her inspiration and lifetime commitment to the game of golf, the Women’s Kentucky Golf Association established the Dorothy Waters Scholarship fund for girls 18 and under to help defray tournament expenses.
