PGA Championships with Kentucky Ties to Re-Air this Week

With the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park postponed to August due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, what would have been PGA Championship week will instead feature several replays of past editions of the PGA Championship. Three of these will be editions that are near and dear to the heart of Kentucky golf fans.

Thursday, May 14th at 12:00 p.m. EDT on ESPN2 - 2017 PGA Championship

Justin Thomas, a Louisville native, triumphed at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina by two strokes over Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen and Francesco Molinari. Thomas came from two strokes behind beginning the final round to win his first major championship and put an exclamation point on a year that featured five total wins on the PGA Tour.

Thursday, May 14th at 2:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN2 - 2014 PGA Championship

Rory McIlroy won one of the most exciting major championships in recent memory at Valhalla Golf Club in 2014. McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, and Henrik Stenson all held at least a share of the lead at some point during the final round which eventually concluded right around sunset. Heavy rain throughout the week nearly forced a Monday finish, but some improvisation on Valhalla's famous 18th hole allowed McIlroy to clinch his fourth major champiomship at the last glimmer of light.

Sunday, May 17th at 3:00 p.m. EDT on CBS - 2000 PGA Championship

Tiger Woods captured the third leg of what would be his "Tiger Slam" campaign at Valhalla in thrilling fashion when he outlasted Bob May in a playoff. May, a relative unknown at the time and a heavy underdog to Woods, fought valiantly in a thrilling duel that eventually culminated with Woods and May five strokes ahead of their nearest competitors. Woods won the three-hole aggregate playoff by a stroke for his fifth career major championship.
