Lee, Montgomery, and Arnold are on top after round one of the 29th Kentucky Women's Open

Round One Leaders: Haeri Lee, Alyssa Montgomery, and Sarah Arnold
LOUISVILLE, KY (July 14, 2025) — A tightly contested leaderboard headlines round one of the 29th Kentucky Women’s Open at the University of Louisville Golf Club, as three professionals share the top spot at the end of Monday’s opening round.
Haeri Lee (Buffalo Grove, IL), Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN), and Sarah Arnold (Geneva, IL) each fired impressive rounds of three-under 69 to sit in a three-way tie for first heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Lee, a 2022 graduate from Drake University, turned in a bogey-free performance to begin her championship campaign. Starting on hole 10, she opened with a run of pars before carding a birdie on the par-5 17th. Her steady rhythm continued on the front nine, highlighted by birdies on holes 1 and 6 to round out a clean and composed round.
Montgomery, the Head Women’s Golf Coach at Carson-Newman, started hot rolling in three consecutive birdies on holes 2, 3, and 4 after beginning her round on hole 1. A bogey on the 5th temporarily interrupted her momentum, but she bounced back with a birdie on 8. Despite a bogey on the par-4 11th, she closed strong with consistent play and a final birdie on 17.
Arnold, a Western Kentucky University Women’s Golf Alumni, also began her round on hole 10 and maintained early composure with a string of pars. A bogey on 14 was quickly offset by back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17, though a stumble on 18 ended her first nine. She regrouped on the final stretch, carding birdies on holes 2, 4, 7, and 9, with only one bogey on 5 to interrupt an otherwise stellar last nine.
Ellie Yeazell (West Chester, OH), heading into her Senior season at the University of Findlay, leads all amateur competitors after an opening round of 2-under par (70), which included 5 birdies on the day.
With three players knotted atop the leaderboard, the stage is set for a thrilling final round. Tee times begin Tuesday at 8:00 AM off hole 1 and hole 10, with pairings based on round one standings.
The Kentucky PGA extends its sincere thanks to the University of Louisville Golf Club and its staff for their continued support in hosting this prestigious championship.
