Kendrick, Baysinger, and Combs win the 14th Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Men's Match Play Championship

LEXINGTON, KY (August 8, 2025) — The last day of the 14th Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Men's Match Play Championship at Kearney Hills Golf Links has come to a close after an action-packed set of matches. In the championship division, Joshua Rhodes cruised to a 5&4 victory in the morning over Alex Wright, earning him a spot in the final match. Kendrick won 2&1 over Christopher Harpum.
The turning point of the match came on the 465-yard par 4 13th hole. Rhodes stuffed one to 10 feet, and after a wayward drive, Kendrick left himself a 30-footer. Kendrick, who rolled it well all week, drained the 30-footer, and Rhodes narrowly missed. “That was the huge turning point in my match that kept the pressure on,” Kendrick said. He took advantage of the lead, pouring in birdies on 14 and 16 to put him two up, before closing it out on the 17th to win 2&1.
In the senior division, Bryan Baysinger took down defending champion Davis Boland 5&4 in the morning, while Rodney Chancey outlasted Lexington local David Reid 2&1. Baysinger was going low early with four birdies in his first five holes. The match ended through 5 holes when Rodney Chancey withdrew due to back spasms that he had been dealing with all week. In an interview after his winning match, Baysinger said, “My approach shots were on par today. This is a long, grueling tournament over the three days with lots of amazing talent in the field. I feel really blessed to finish on top!”
In the Masters division match, Christopher Chee and David Combs played a very competitive match. Every time Combs started to grow his lead, Chee would regain momentum. Combs proved to be too much. His three birdies, including sinking a 12-footer on 16, capped off his 3&2 victory.
The Kentucky Golf Association extends its gratitude to Clark’s Pump-N-Shop as our title sponsor. We would also like to thank Kearney Hill Golf Links and its staff for their support of the Kentucky Golf Association and for supporting golf throughout the commonwealth.
