VERSAILLES, KY (July 22, 2025) — Round Two of the 2nd Kentucky Women’s Team Championship concluded under ideal conditions at The Woodford Club. With clear skies and a steady pace of play, players enjoyed a smooth and competitive final day on the course, and the action on the leaderboard didn’t disappoint.
In the Open Division, Dori Eastwood and Sherri Mattiussi stole the spotlight, sweeping both the Gross and Net titles. The duo’s steady play kept them near the top all day, and a pivotal birdie from Eastwood on the 16th hole helped seal their Gross Division victory. Their consistent scoring and team chemistry were on full display, with both players contributing key birdies that propelled them to a dominant showing in the Net Division as well.
The Senior Division delivered its own share of drama. Joyce Abbott and Susan Stewart claimed the Gross championship, finding their stride on the back nine. Abbott’s timely birdie on the par-4 14th provided the spark they needed to take control of the round. In the Net Division, Donna McNeil and Denise Wentz put together a thrilling charge to the top. McNeil electrified the field with back-to-back eagles on Holes 13 and 14—an extraordinary achievement—while Wentz delivered clutch birdies on 13 and 18 to cap off a memorable victory.
The Super Senior Division highlighted experience and resilience. Teena Freibert and Delia Kahle navigated the course with strategic precision to capture the Gross title, showcasing consistency and mental toughness through the toughest stretches of the round. In the Net Division, Cathy Mobley and Judy Halasek finished spectacularly. Mobley fired birdies on Holes 10, 15, and 16, while Halasek caught fire on the closing holes with a birdie streak from 13 to 15, helping their team surge ahead late in the round.
It was a fantastic week at The Woodford Club, with camaraderie, competition, and exciting shot-making on display across every division. Congratulations to all our champions and players who made the 2nd Kentucky Women’s Team Championship a memorable event!
