OWENSBORO, Ky. — The quarterfinals at the 15th Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Match Play Championship left almost nothing to spare on Tuesday at Owensboro Country Club, where one player in each division is chasing a second title.

All four Open Division quarterfinals reached at least the 17th hole, and three of them went the full 18 and finished 1UP. But the field had to survive the Round of 16 first.

The morning session ended the run of Nicholas Jones, who had won two matches in extra holes on Monday. Colton Woosley won the second hole to take a lead he never surrendered, building it to four before Jones won the 14th to get within three. Woosley closed it out 3 and 2.

Andy Roberts turned back Eric King 4 and 2 in a match King twice pulled within one, though Roberts never surrendered the lead and pulled away with wins at the 13th, 14th and 16th. Cameron Carrico led throughout in a 4-and-3 win over Mason Butler, closing it at the 15th.

Robbie Keyes handled Noah Combs 6 and 4. Combs won the opening hole and halved the second before Keyes won the third through the seventh and finished the match at the 14th. Andrew Buse dropped the first hole to Hunter Ford, squared it at the second, then won the fifth, sixth and seventh on the way to a 4-and-3 victory.

Levi Keith won the first two holes against Matt Epperson and led the whole way, reaching 6UP after the 11th before closing it out 4 and 3. Eric Fuldner won the second, third and fourth to go 3UP against Paxton McKelvey and was 5UP at the turn. McKelvey won the 11th, 13th and 14th to get within three, but Fuldner took the 15th to end it 4 and 3.

Kevin Waldie needed 19 holes to get past Thomas Henderson. Waldie led early before Henderson went ahead, holding a one-hole lead from the 12th through the 14th. Waldie squared the match at the 15th and moved in front at the 16th, Henderson won the 18th to force extra holes, and Waldie won the 19th.

The afternoon offered no more separation. Roberts, the lone remaining player representing the host club, was the only quarterfinalist to close out his match early, beating Woosley 2 and 1. Woosley won the first two holes to go 2UP before Roberts answered with the third and fourth to square the match. Roberts led by one from the eighth through the 11th, the two were level from the 12th through the 15th, and Roberts won the 16th and 17th to advance.

Waldie and Carrico were level for 11 holes and never more than 1UP either way. Carrico went ahead after the fifth, Waldie after the 10th and 11th, and Carrico again after the 14th. Waldie won the 16th and halved the last two holes to win 1UP.

Keyes led Buse from the fifth hole on and moved 2UP at the 12th. Buse won the 16th to draw within one, but Keyes halved the 17th and 18th to advance 1UP.

Fuldner and Keith traded the lead deep into the afternoon. Keith led by one from the fourth hole through the ninth before Fuldner won the 10th to square the match and the 11th and 12th to go 2UP. Keith answered at the 13th and again at the 17th to draw level, only for Fuldner to win the 18th and take the match 1UP.

Roberts will face Waldie in Wednesday's semifinals, with Keyes meeting Fuldner in the other half of the bracket. Roberts, the 2021 champion, is seeking his second Open Division title and would become just the second multiple-time champion in Open Division history. 

Senior Division

Davis Boland won the opening hole against Jared Baysinger before Baysinger took the third, fourth and fifth to go 2UP. Baysinger held the lead through the 13th, when Boland won the hole to draw within one. Boland squared the match at the 14th and won the 16th to go ahead, then halved the 17th and 18th to advance 1UP.

Bryan Conway won the first hole against David Horning, Horning squared it at the second, and Conway never trailed after that, reaching 3UP after the eighth. Horning twice cut the deficit to two, but Conway answered each time and closed the match at the 16th, 3 and 2.

Mark Knecht won the first two holes against Greg Laswell and led throughout. Laswell got within one after the eighth, but Knecht won the 10th, 11th and 12th and never looked back, taking the match 5 and 4.

PJ McDougal won the first two holes against David Sykes, was 4UP at the turn and 5UP after the 10th. Sykes won the 14th, 15th and 16th to pull within two, but McDougal halved the 17th to close it out 2 and 1.

Boland will meet Conway in Wednesday's semifinals, with Knecht facing McDougal in the other match. Boland, the 2024 champion, is also chasing a second Senior Division title.
