PROSPECT, Ky. — The 98th Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Women's State Amateur is heating up at Hunting Creek Country Club, and after two days of competition, the field has been whittled down to its final four.

Day One: Walker Sets the Tone

Taryn Walker announced her presence early, firing a 2-under-par 70 on day one to claim Medalist honors and establish herself as the player to beat heading into match play. Walker's round was built on a steady foundation, keeping herself out of trouble off the tee while her irons gave her consistent looks at the green.

Sixteen players advanced out of stroke play into the Championship Division match play bracket, while the remaining competitors continue their week in the Championship Division consolation bracket.

Day Two: Quarterfinals and a Grueling Test

Match play brought an entirely different challenge on day two, one made more demanding by two weather delays and the physical toll of 36 holes in wet conditions. Two delays and 36 holes later, the Kentucky Women's Amateur had its semifinalists.

Emma Lindemoen punched her ticket to the semifinals in one of the day's most competitive matches, going the full 18 holes against Kara Tucker before closing it out. Lindemoen credited her course management as the key to getting through it.

"I tried to lay up to 100 yards every time on the par fives because that's my favorite yardage," Lindemoen said. "And if I'm in the rough, just doing anything to not be in the rough again, because it's so thick."

When two delays threatened to disrupt her momentum, Lindemoen leaned on a straightforward mental approach to stay level.

"When you're in the break, don't think about the round at all, just give your mind a rest," she said. "We've been out here for like seven hours. You don't need to think about it anymore than we have."

Looking ahead to the semifinals, Lindemoen is keeping her mindset simple. "I'm just going to keep playing my game, trying to play consistent, and I'll attack when I can. Honestly, just having fun out here."

Walker, meanwhile, navigated her own quarterfinal and enters the semifinals as the player she has been all week: composed, experienced, and locked in. She acknowledged her putting was a touch inconsistent on the front nine during day two given the wet conditions, but her confidence never wavered.

Walker knows these conditions. A longtime member at Hunting Creek, she understands where not to miss when the course is soft, and she welcomed the mental challenge that comes with rain delays and difficult scoring.

"Mentally, I feel like it becomes a mental game in the rain," Walker said. "I feel like that's probably the best part of my game."

The semifinal matchups are set for day three. In the Championship Division, Taryn Walker will face Emma Lindemoen, and Mary Keene Marrs will take on Grace Soale. In the Senior First Flight Division, Natalie Britton and Melba Kindervater will meet in tomorrow's championship. In the Senior Division, Susan Stewart and Delia Kahle will face each other for the title.

For Walker, the stakes carry a weight that goes beyond the trophy.

"This club means so much to me. We live out here," she said. "I have two kids, 7 and 9, and we love it. Just being on my home course and winning would be just something really special."

Championship Wednesday at Hunting Creek Country Club promises to be a fitting finale to one of Kentucky's most storied amateur events. With a compelling set of matchups across every division, the 98th Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Women's State Amateur is set to crown its champions.
