Growth of the Game Funding as of March 14th
On Thursday, April 11, the Kentucky PGA Section will host the 2024 Growth of the Game Event at Woodhaven Country Club in Louisville! This will be a 54-hole event for Members and Associates of the Section designed to create positive momentum for Section initiatives, in addition to a charity the participant is passionate about.
The KPGA Grant provides funding to programs across Kentucky that are dedicated to growing the game and player development. These initiatives can range from scholarships to development leagues for juniors, women, and more, or any kind of educational opportunity in relation to golf. Half of the money each player raises from their donations goes towards the KPGA Grant, with the other half going to a charity of their choice.
FORMAT
Participants will play 54 holes at Woodhaven in this fashion:
- One 18-hole round at the championship course
- Two 9-hole rounds at the par-three course
- One 18-hole round at the putting course
After the round on the championship course and before the rounds on the par-three course, lunch will be provided to each of the participants.
FUNDRAISING
The participants do not have an entry fee and will be asked to get people to donate on their behalf. If John Doe, PGA wants to participate, John would contact his members, customers, friends or family members asking for people to pitch in money towards his participation. If John has $500 worth of donations come in, half of that money would be donated to the KPGA's Player Development Grant. The other half would go towards a charity of John's choosing.
The money raised for Section initiatives will be used for scholarship funding, providing golf clubs to juniors who don't own a set of clubs, education opportunities about the game, its rules and etiquette, fostering the promotion of golf for women and Veterans, and funding opportunities for golf instruction.
REGISTRATION
Section Members and Associates who want to participate in the Growth of the Game Event at Woodhaven on April 11 can sign up using the link below.
DONATIONS
Participants of the event can use this template email to send to people in regards to seeking a donation.
People who want to donate can pay right away by clicking here. In the "Comments" box, please clarify that your donation is for the Growth of the Game Event and specify which participant you are sponsoring. Donors choosing this option will also be entered into a raffle! There will be one drawing for each of the following items: A TaylorMade driver, a Callaway Ai Smoke fairway wood, a Callaway Jaws wedge, and six dozen Chrome Tour golf balls. Every $50 equals one raffle entry.
Those wanting to contribute additional funds, or anyone who does not want to donate right away, can opt to contribute through the Pledge for Performance campaign. This allows a donator to set a specific dollar figure that they will contribute for scores the player makes throughout the event. For example, if Jane wants to donate on John Doe, PGA's behalf, before the event she could indicate she will donate $20 for every birdie John makes during the event and $10 for every par he makes. If John makes 5 birdies and 10 pars, Jane would then donate $200. Jane will receive an invoice from the Kentucky PGA following the event and pay at that time. Anyone choosing to donate solely through Pledge for Performance will NOT be entered into the raffle.
