More for Moore: Mitchell Moore Gets Victory at Golf House Kentucky Classic #2 supported by PXG

LOUISVILLE, KY (June 1, 2021) - Golf House Kentucky Classic #2 supported by PXG took place today at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club. Amateurs and professionals from all over the state came to get a sneak peek at the venue of the upcoming 102nd Kentucky Open Championship. Persimmon Ridge showed its teeth and presented a challenge to the competitors from tee to green. The format was stableford, where albatrosses were worth eight points, eagles worth six, birdies worth four, pars worth two, bogeys worth one, and double bogey or worse coming out to zero points..

In the professional division, Hopkinsville native Mitchell Moore made six birdies and just two bogeys en route to tallying 46 stableford points. Moore did most of his damage on the back nine where he dropped in four birdies. The former Murray State Racer was the low professional in Golf House Kentucky Classic #1 as well, which took place at Country Club of Paducah. In second place, a familiar name at the top of leaderboards was Louisville’s Nick Johnston who had 40 points. Following him was fellow Louisvillian Blake Watts, who accumulated 39 points.

In the amateur competition, Matt Reynolds used home course advantage to edge out Western Kentucky University signee Stephen Warren. Reynolds used five birdies, including three in a row on holes 6-8, en route to 41 points. His birdie on the 18th to Warren’s bogey on the 18th allowed for a three-point swing which ultimately crowned Reynolds as champion. Sitting in a tie for third were Glasgow’s Chase Landrum and Lexington’s Alex Wright with 37 points.

On the senior professional front, Florence native T. Bruce Oldendick got off to a blazing hot start and eventually routed his competition with 40 points. He did his work on the first seven holes where he made four birdies and had no blemishes. Oldendick is no stranger to the winner’s circle as he has won three straight Kentucky Senior PGA Professional Championships. Following him was Louisvillian Matt O’Keefe who notched two birdies and accumulated 33 points.

There was plenty of drama in the senior amateur division. Tom Campbell, Greg Engle, Chris Jaggers, and Mike Newton all ended the day with 39 points so a playoff was held to determine the winner. Campbell came out on top as he dropped in a fifteen-footer for birdie on the second playoff hole to edge out Newton. Campbell, the 2014 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur champion, is a veteran when it comes to staying cool in pressure situations. All four players made four birdies in their regulation rounds.
