Bobby Newberry Leads Team to Glory in Adidas Pro-Junior

FRANKFORT, KY (JULY 19, 2021) - It was a perfect day at Juniper Hill Golf Course in Frankfort for the Adidas Pro-Junior. PGA Professionals from across Kentucky brought a trio of juniors with them in attempt to claim glory in this four-person scramble. Junior golfers of all different ages were able to participate in this unique event.

Bobby Newberry’s squad consisting of Finn Johnson, Emma Lindemoen and Winn Scherer came to Frankfort on a mission. They posted the best round of the day with a 54 (-16) to be crowned the 2021 Adidas Pro-Junior champions. They made six birdies and an eagle on both nines to post a pair of 27s. Their eagles came on the par-five 8th and 12th holes which are the only par-fives on the course.

Coming in just one shot behind Team Newberry was John Bachman’s team after firing a 55 (-15). His team of Kentucky PGA Junior Tour regulars Carson Long, Luc Kelty and Andrew Etscorn were able to post fifteen birdies with no bogeys. They finished very well as they birdied each of their last eight holes.

Rounding out the top three were the teams of Corey Stith/Rylan Jones/Jake Blankenship/Charlie Proctor plus Gavin Burns/Kariann Campbell/Georgi Scott/Conner Ford. Both teams were bogey-free in their rounds with each shooting 56 (-14).

The Kentucky PGA Section and Kentucky Junior Golf extend their thanks to Kirk Schooley, PGA Head Golf Professional at Juniper Hill Golf Course and his team for their assistance in staging a successful event. Additionally, appreciation is expressed towards Steve McDonald of Adidas for providing each participant with a fantastic tee gift today.

The Kentucky PGA’s next tournament on the schedule is the 102nd Kentucky Open, which will take place July 27-29 from Persimmon Ridge Golf Club. Kentucky Junior Golf is in the midst of its penultimate week of the summer season, with the Louisville Junior Championship from Polo Fields Golf & Country Club set to begin tomorrow.
