Owensboro Country Club Named Host of 2024 Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur

LOUSIVILLE, KY (April 28, 2021) – For the first time in more than forty years, Kentucky golf’s oldest championship will be contested in Owensboro. The 2024 edition of the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur, which will be the 110th staging of the competition, will be done so at Owensboro Country Club.

Originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1919, the facility added another nine holes shortly after World War II. 2024 will mark the third time Owensboro Country Club has hosted this tournament; the other instances occurring in 1977 and 1959, which were won by Jimmy Brown and Tommy Settle, respectively. The club also hosted the Kentucky Open in 1968, 1952 and 1939, the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Mid-Amateur in 2011, plus the Kentucky Senior Open in 2018.

“We’re very excited to bring the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur to our club in 2024,” Jason Fitch, PGA Head Golf Professional at Owensboro Country Club said. “We’ve always enjoyed the opportunity to host some of the state’s marquee events and to have the best amateurs across Kentucky coming here in a few years will be a tremendous experience.”

“Owensboro has a long tradition of hosting the KGA and its events and we are very excited to take our premier event there in 2024,” Jim Thompson, President of the Kentucky Golf Association stated. “This is a great opportunity to show off a terrific venue and continue our history of taking this Championship to the state's best facilities."

Amateur golfers will have the opportunity to play another one of the state’s most prestigious championships at Owensboro this summer, as the Kentucky Match Play Championships will be contested here on July 19-21.

This year’s edition of the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur takes place on June 15-17 at Audubon Country Club. Registration for this year’s edition closes soon, with the deadline to apply for the Championship or a qualifier falling on Thursday, May 6.
